Review

With a venue upgrade, a near sold out tour and a 7pm doors its no surprise the Croxton was buzzing and filling up quickly. While waiting for Nth Rd to kick off the evening you could see a line that stretched from one end to the other, seems making sure they got their hands on tour merch was front of mind for everyone.

With this being said, Nth Rd opened to a nicely filed room, which is great to see for the Melbourne alt metal locals.

Nth Rd

Within a few songs Nth Rd had the crowd hooked, arms raised high, and a mosh pit forming. The energy Nth Rd showed on stage was infectious and was exactly what the night needed to kick it off.

Days Like These were next up, hailing from Brisbane this 3 piece have an image an unique as their sound. A mix of metal core, rock, dance and pop, and with what sounded like some influence from 80’s disco and synth roots they certainly maintained and push the energy in the room to new levels

With 3 songs left of their set they announce a cover, King For A Day by Pierce The Veil. By the reaction from the crowd I think it was safe to say a lot of the crowd would of also been at the recent Beartooth x Pierce The Veil shows only months ago. Days Like These of course put their own spin on the crowd favourite delivering a unique and solid cover that had the crowd singing along.

Next, the moment we were all waiting for. Against the Current explode onto stage and with out a word break into Good Guy and then straight into Wildfire, Again & Again and then Jump to finish off a energy enhancing 4 song intro. These New Yorkers knew how to get the crowd moving. Singer Chrissy Costanza was moving side to side, from the back to the front non stop while belting out track after track not missing a beat.

Against The Current

Its been 6 years since Against The Current last toured, and the crowd were out to prove a point tonight, singing along to just about every word hopefully this near sold tour is enough to bring them back sooner next time.

Against The Current

Playing their new track Silent Stranger, released only weeks ago the crowd showed it was already a fan favourite singing along.

With a set list full of bangers like Another You (Another Way), Roses, Voices, Wasteland and That Won’t Save Us Against the Current exit the stage,  and the lights go out. Through the quiet the encore chant erupts, this crowd wasn’t about to let the night finish yet.

Against The Current certainly made them earn it though, with a wait that made you question their return the booming start of Legends Never Die kicks in, they were back. Playing a 2 song encore and finishing with Weapon. I think its safe to say everyone left with memories to last till their return.
