Returning to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre for the first time since 2018, David Byrne’s Who Is the Sky? Tour drew a crowd of all ages, all eager to see what Byrne had in store. Turns out it was to be one of the shows of the year!
Performing with a large band dressed in matching blue outfits, Byrne and his crew played in front of huge screens displaying an ever-changing array of visuals — from T-shirt slogans during “Tshirt” to the interior of Byrne’s apartment for “My Apartment Is My Friend.”
In a wonderful moment mid-show, having spotting a poster advertising an Adelaide Fringe performance titled Byrne Dance earlier in the day, Byrne’s team invited the show’s creators on stage to teach the crowd — and Byrne himself — the moves.
Alongside a selection of Byrne’s solo material, the audience was also treated to Talking Heads classics including “And She Was,” “Psycho Killer,” “Once in a Lifetime,” and, to close out an incredible night, “Burning Down the House.”
