Tonight was the third instalment of the ‘Happy Mondays’ series of curated shows at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl and part of Melbourne Music Week - Extended

Every Monday night in February, two iconic music venues unite to curate a gig at the Bowl. The month-long series channels the spirit of a classic pub residency with some of the best local acts.
30/70
First up were local experimental hip-hop, funk/soul collective, 30/70, curated by the Northcote Social Club. Initially rooted in jazz, the collective now move through hypnotic groove and beats, with infectious melodies, while still remaining true to their roots.
Vocalist & mainstay of the collective, Allysha Joy, brings the energy, while the solid rhythm section move through through various styles and genres, while engaging the crowd.
The second act for the night were Melbourne punks Private Function, curated by The Evelyn Hotel. Exploding on to the stage and arguably one of the wildest bands in this country, didn’t leave anyone disappointed. From beer swilling, to guitars launching across the stage, bodies colliding, Gobbledocks being executed (yes, you heard right complete with faux electric chair) and then resurrected, to a Midnight Oil cover and being joined on stage by guests (Jade Louise from ‘Dicklord’), it is chaotic to say the least. Private Function defiantly leave an impression and give you every cents worth of entertainment.

Overall a great night of entertainment and a great series of events put on by the Arts Centre Melbourne.
