Funk innovator and icon GEORGE CLINTON announces Australian return along with PARLIAMENT FUNKADELIC
A music icon in the truest sense of the word, George Clinton is charting his return to Australia for a series of unmissable tour dates this September. The funk innovator and maestro will be touring the East Coast this Spring, bringing fans his inimitable style and curation of sound that has made him a globally renowned superstar.
George Clinton redefined black music with Parliament/Funkadelic, blending Motown soul, Hendrix’s rawness, and Sly Stone’s hedonism into a groundbreaking funk and Afrofuturist movement. Funkadelic’s experimental psychedelic-funk fusion, showcased in albums like Maggot Brain and America Eats Its Young, cemented Clinton’s legacy as more than a musician—he was a visionary. The "P-Funk" movement birthed legends like Bootsy Collins and Bernie Worrell, while hits like "Flash Light" and "One Nation Under a Groove" dominated charts, earning seven gold or platinum albums by the 1970s.
Clinton’s mantra, "One nation under a groove," encapsulated Parliament/Funkadelic’s cultural impact—a fusion of danceable rhythms, rock, and sci-fi storytelling that influenced generations. With 39 charting singles and timeless anthems, their success remains one of music’s most vibrant and enduring stories.
Of his Australian return this September, Clinton has expressed his excitement to get back to crowds Down Under and reconnect with a fanbase he has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with.
As a touring artist, Clinton remains one of the busiest even now, over five decades into his career. Through rigorous tours with Parliament/Funkadelic and his other projects, the fire and excitement for live performances has never waned for Clinton; his Australian tour simply adds to what stands to be another fruitful year for the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, and mastermind of P-Funk.
