“..the intimacy of the 1500 person venue made this a truly special event..”

Charli XCX’s final headline show for her Crash tour at the Northcote Theatre sold out lightning fast, with Charli exclaiming: “This one is for all you guys who f*cking fought to get a ticket, I respect it.”

The diverse Gen Z crowd and Charli turned the theatre into a retro 80s dance club, with the singer and two dancers strutting around the stage with perfectly choreographed moves in front of some bold and impressive visuals on the screen behind them.

Before launching into her song Yuck, she says “Melbourne you’ve got me dripping in sweat. Thank you for making our album number 1, because you know what, we deserved it.”

An impressive setlist of 20 songs, singing hit after hit - the stand outs were 1999, Boom Clap, and Every Rule where the singer slowed down the pace and sat on the stage while the crowd waved their arms in time. Before launching into Boys she said “This one is for all the gays” - a song that the diverse crowd went off for.

She ended the 90 minute performance with her hit Good Ones from Crash, with her final words “It’s Charli baby, thank you everyone.”

A fantastic gig from a seasoned performer, Charli could have easily been playing to a crowd 5 times the size, but the intimacy of the 1500 person venue made this a truly special event for her loyal fans.
